COMMISSIONS

A selection of various freelance illustration projects i've worked on in recent times.

IAMDEVLOPER

Iamdeveloper is a popular development parody account, mostly active on Twitter and Instagram. They recently wanted to create a proper avatar for their work, instead of using the old image of Napoleon Dynamite. We worked to create this illustration that honoured that reference but had its own identity too. We also then worked on a series of comics together where I took their tweets and turned them into new weekly strips.

SOMEONES

Some caricatures for the lead creatives at top branding agency SomeOne, who were the sister company for a time to Else London, where I worked. These were used in their annual review of their own work, published in a newspaper format.

FUGGLERS

A set of Christmas cards commissioned to promote Louise McGettrick's wonderfully disturbing line of homemade teddies, all made with fake human teeth. They are amazing. Seriously, go take a look.

DALJIT SINGH

Legendary Digital Creative Director and Strategist Daljit Singh commissioned me to draw him a selection of illustrations to accompany a series of articles he wrote for various publications. The themes were largely around the benefits of remote working in the modern age, but also touched upon other concerns, such as the slow blandification of the web. An issue I worry about too.

ENHANCECONF

Some slides from a talk I gave at Simon McManus' developer conference with old friend and colleague, Phil Hawksworth. We decided to take two sides over the position of Progressive Enhancement, and what that meant for both Design and Development. But it was more a chance for Phil and I to have a good natured debate over how the web has evolved recently, both for good and for ill.

ITV

Concept artwork for ITV's 2012 Christmas Idents. The idea was to create a mechanical christmas tree that involved not only seasonally-themed automatons, but also included references to tv programmes being shown at the time (Downton Abbey, Britain's Got Talent, Coronation Street etc.). It was my job to come up with the original drawing that 3D animator Jason Loader would then use to inform the final piece.
